Most people today own cell phones and many people like to personalise theirs a little. There is no better way to do this than with ringtones of your favourite songs, musical pieces and even crazy sound effects. When cell phones were first introduced to the public they had pretty dull ringing effects if someone called or sent a text message. Usually these were plain electronic rings or just a beeping noise to alert the cell phones owner to an incoming call or text. Now these tones are so diverse and can be made from practically any sound.

Fans of music tend to opt for ringtones that have their favourite tracks on them and these sound great when the cell phone is called. It is also possible to have several tracks from various artists on a cell phone so that the owner can choose between them whenever they like. These can be changed as often as the owner of the cell phone likes and one fun idea is to assign certain ringtones to certain friends so that you instantly know who is calling.

With the advances in technology moving so quickly the quality of ringtones is now better than ever. Ten or so years ago when ringtones were first being introduced their quality was poor and they were reproduced in monotone and more often than not they did not sound like the tracks they were meant to. From this polyphonic tones were created and these were an improvement in quality but still were not always accurate representations of the tracks they were imitating. Now the quality of ringtones is outstanding and MP3 tracks are often used. This is due to the massive leaps in mobile communications and the ability of the modern cell phones to store huge amounts of information on them.

Getting tones for your cell phone is now so straightforward too and there are different ways in which you can do this. Some companies advertise their tones on the TV and in magazines. Here you simply text into the company with the details of which of their many ringtones you would like. Then this is sent to your cell phone as a track which you save and the cost of the tone is then deducted from the balance of credit on your cell phone or it appears on your bill if you have a contract phone.

Another way to get your favourite tracks on your phone is to join an online service. Once again the tone will be sent to your cell phone and you can then assign it to a particular person or just have it as your regular tone – the choice is yours.

So if you are looking for some great sounding tracks from all of your favourite artists on your cell phone check out the ringtones available now. With such a large range to choose from with thousands of artists featured you will soon find exactly what you want and save it onto your cell phone.
